Returning with FOs!

Been MIA for quite a few days- just got caught up in life, and projects, and wedding stuff.

I'm attempting to be more brief, as a way to keep reader and writer engaged and not over-taxed with my chatter. I'll let my pictures do the talking.
FO Hats!
3 new hats!
Flowered hat
Mustard hat with cranberry rose
Close-up of Border
Baby blanket for nephew Josiah, expected in September.
Entertainment
Keeping myself entertained while I crochet!
The bouquet is a hat
Bridal Shower- the ribbon bouquet is a hat, future mother-in-law laughing at my silliness
Prayers
My future mother-in-law asked that the guests pray over me.
Oriental Lily
It's been raining a bit here, but some beautiful flowers are out in my mom's garden!

So, I've been busy. The hats & blanket were finished this last week. I'm about halfway through the first season of the West Wing. I'm listening to The Fellowship of the Ring again, because I like the reader, and the content is so fun!

My first bridal shower is done with, and it was a lot of fun-- E's aunt and cousin did most of the work, and the food was amazing. Luckily, I have another month or two before the shower hosted by my sister  & aunts.

Linking up with Tami's FO Friday!!!!

Family Comes in all Shapes and Sizes

This weekend, my parents were honored to become godparents again. This time, to the lovely little daughter of a woman from our church. Dad is the naturally talkative sort, and he always welcomes new people to church. This particular young woman attends the same university as I do, but is studying in the nursing program. She came from Ghana with her brother to study here several years ago.

A few weeks ago, she asked my parents to be godparents to her little Audrey. Mom & Dad & Audrey

You can't quite see in the photo, but little Audrey is wearing a necklace and ring made by her uncle in Ghana with her initials on it. Definitely one of the most beautiful gifts to be given to a little one.

My parents and I spent part of Sunday afternoon (after the Baptism Mass) celebrating with Audrey and her family, and it is lovely how the Church brings such a variety of people into the same place.

Repeat Friday

I don't know if I've shared my infinity scarves as a FO Friday recently, but that's what I have. I was really hoping to finish my second Shallow Waters Shawl for today, but it's still a WIP in my bag. I've mostly been making infinity scarves this week, and even though the picture is from a few weeks ago, it reflects what I've been making this week.

I'm going on a retreat this weekend with my mom, and it'll be a 3 hour car ride, so expect more photos next week of finished stuff!! Like, I will properly take photos of my new infinity scarves, and the Shallow Waters shawl should be done. I might even get to read a new book! Yay!

There will definitely be more fall-ish type pictures coming up too, as I've been waiting at least 2 weeks for my sister to finish editing photos from our trip to the pumpkin farm with my boyfriend. She's a perfectionist when it comes to photos, so they've been taking a while.

This is my new bag, purchased from another vendor at the craft show last Saturday.
I LOVE it!

My camera, when it was broken. But it's fixed now! :)
Thanks for stopping by!! Check out Tami's Amis for more FOs this week!!

Nothing Finished today

I have nothing finished to share this week, so I'm not linking up to Tami's, but I still wanted to share what I was working on.

My crocheted button cowl that was in the works on Wednesday is finished except for the buttons- I have them picked out and everything, just not sewn on. I have more than enough yarn to make a complete set- I'm thinking a pair of fingerless gloves and a nice headband/earwarmer. Not sure if I'll sell it, as it's 'one-of-a-kind' and those don't seem to do well at the craft shows.

I've been working hard on my Lenten afghan, and as today is the 10th day of Lent, I should have ten squares. To be honest, I only have 9 right now, but after work tonight, I plan on working up a few more. I've sewn the first 8 together in pairs, which should cut down on my finishing work. I have about 8 6" squares with ends waiting to be woven in, and I'm planning on sewing those together either in strips or to make 12" squares. I haven't quite decided yet.

The BAMCAL March squares were released Wednesday night, and I have them all printed out. So far I've been able to work the 6" squares- Never Fading Flower- and it works up a bit small, so I added a few extra rows so they match my others. I'm debating about adding 6" squares to my 'official' BAMCAL afghan-- if I do, I will make a set of 4 to create a 12" square.

I've also been doing a bit of knitting- testing out some cabling for another button cowl. This will definitely have a matching headband/earwarmer, but again, still not sure about selling them.

I am sadly without pictures in this post, as I have been so busy trying to get everything done before Spring Break so I can relax, that I just haven't had time to take pictures. Maybe I'll add some tonight.

Whatever you do for the Least of these...

Mondays are perhaps the worst day of my week. I sit through 5 hours of school, and then work for 5 more hours. Luckily, spring break is just around the corner!

I'm truly be challenged this Lent, thinking about the 3 main ideas: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Part of my almsgiving is related to my stash bashing- I made the decision to make 40 squares for each day of Lent, and create an afghan (or 2) to donate to a local shelter. So far I've been quite successful, and I feel better knowing my work is going somewhere that matters.
"Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me"

I plan on going to weekly adoration- it's not at my church, so I'm definitely going out of my comfort zone, which is something we've been talking about in my women's group.

In other news, it's been lovely having my bf home- my sister was lovely enough to do a photo-shoot of sorts with us. This is my favorite so far:

God's blessings for a good week for everyone!

WIP Wednesday! 5

I've been working on some crocheted cupcakes- a bit of a promo for my hat business. My dad wanted to show the ladies at work what I was doing, I showed him a cupcake, he commissioned a dozen so I could put promo tags on them and he could distribute them to the ladies for Christmas, while also supporting me! I have 9 good ones done for him, and was fooling around with some photos.
9 cupcakes

I also have orders for 3 dinosaur hats in smaller sizes, so I've been working on getting them the correct size. I've actually had to frog back on 2 of them (still need to get the yarn for the last one), so that's a bit frustrating.

But in fun news! It snowed through the night, but then became sunny this morning, so it was perfect to go outside and take some pictures.

That's all I have for WIPW! Visit Tami's Amis to see people who have way more imagination than I do.
